National Protection and Rescue Directorate is an independent, professional and administrative organization in the Republic of Croatia with a duty to prepare, plan and manage the operational forces and coordinates the activities of all participants of protection and rescue system.
Due to the security paradigm shift in Europe, and the civil defense picture has changed dramatically in recent years in practice. Interstate wars are excluded in Western Europe for the foreseeable future. Accordingly, the protection against the effects of military action in the context of civil defense has largely lost its importance.
The basic function of the National Directorate General for Disaster Management, Ministry of the Interior (NDGDM), is protecting the lives and the property of the population living in Hungary and insuring the safe operation of the national economy and protecting the elements of the critical infrastructure.
